Xanadu was inspired by my love of glamorous poolside scenes and the dreamlike worlds we create in our imagination. Set within a lush tropical landscape, the painting brings together giraffes and an elephant alongside swimmers and sunbathers, blurring the boundary between reality and fantasy.
I wanted the scene to feel abundant, playful and slightly surreal, like stepping into an impossible paradise where anything might happen. The vivid yellow sky, exotic planting and sparkling water create a sense of escapism and wonder, inviting the viewer into a world that exists somewhere between memory, travel and daydream.
