I created World Famous Pump Rooms as a celebration of Brighton's wonderfully eccentric seafront. Inspired by the historic Pump House and the colourful characters who pass through this stretch of the city every day, the painting captures the energy, individuality and sense of theatre that make Brighton so unique.
The skater in the foreground became a symbol of freedom and self-expression, bringing a sense of playfulness and momentum to the scene. Like much of my work, the painting sits somewhere between observation and imagination, transforming a familiar Brighton landmark into a dreamlike celebration of coastal life.
