Urban Jungle was inspired by a series of photographs I took while exploring Venice Beach. What fascinated me was the contrast between the lush palms, bright Californian light and the layers of graffiti that mark the landscape with its unmistakable personality.
By bringing the tagged trees to the forefront of the composition, I wanted to frame the beach through a distinctly urban lens. The vibrant turquoise and green palette is balanced by deep shadows and bursts of colour, creating a sense of warmth, energy and place.
This painting celebrates the unique character of Venice Beach, where nature, creativity and street culture exist side by side.
