‘Nashville’ is painted using oil and acrylic on canvas. It is a large painting on an artist’s high quality Windsor and Newton stretcher which is warp resistant. The painting is made using large brushstrokes and the texture of the paint and brush marks are visible on the surface of the canvas.

It is painted using a combination of oil and acrylic paint which gives it extreme vibrancy and shine in some areas. In some areas of the painting the oil pigment is fluorescent which gives intense strong colour.

Ruth Mulvie's artwork ‘Nashville’ is a developed from photographs taken on a recent visit to Turkey. The vast light blue sky dominates, giving a sense of endless space. Mulvie spends time editing out and combining images to create new unexpected places. In this painting she used the Instagram filter “Nashville” to flatten out the colours and emphasise the greens.

In the lower part, figures rest by the pool, capturing relaxation. Among them, giraffes stand, both real and surreal, overseeing this peaceful scene.

Mulvie's painting blends elegance and colour, bringing life and imagination together. The juxtaposition of poolside calm with watchful giraffes offers a magical connection between reality and dreams.

With grace, the painting speaks of holiday tranquillity and unexpected connections. It's an invitation to find wonder in the ordinary, reminding us that even in leisure, there's room for enchantment.
