Hear our female artists discussing life as an artist, breaking into the art world and how they are becoming mentors to young girls interested in the arts at our upcoming panel talk at the gallery;
Rebecca Strickson
Inspired by the traditional imagery of trade union banners and protest placards, Rebecca’s work explores the power of community and working together in eye-popping psychedelic colours.
Ruth Mulvie
Painter Ruth Mulvie explores the endless potential of colour at the heart of all her work, mixing and combining the paints to capture various themes of pleasure in her own unique colour palette.
Jana Nicole
Creating memories in mixed media, Jana Nicole uses up-cycled materials and imagery with abstract backdrops to evoke emotion and nostalgia.
Hosted by Alice Reeves, Director of marketing agency ‘The Joyful Web’ and founder of ‘Belongcon’ - a space designed to bring people together to discuss and discover the power of finding belonging, acceptance, and community.
Whether you are intrigued about the life of our female artists, looking for inspiration on breaking into a creative industry or interested becoming a mentor yourself, this event will be an insightful discussion followed by a Q & A session and an opportunity to network with the artists, ambassadors from The Girls Network and like-minded women.
Statistics show there is a huge discrepancy with girls expressing an interest in the arts at school and subsequently going on to work in the art industry. Whether this is due to a lack of confidence, representation or opportunity, Enter Gallery are getting involved and are encouraging female artists to become mentors and positive role models to help creative young girls develop the skills and courage to realise their potential and shape their career.
From a 2019 survey across schools in Sussex, 25% of girls were interested in a career in the arts as their first career choice. Let’s help make that happen and use International Women's Day to make a positive difference for women and the art world!
