Acrylic and oil on canvas.
Blimp was created for my exhibition In the Air, a collection inspired by travel, nostalgia and the excitement of setting off somewhere new. While the series was developed for exhibition at Shoreham Airport, this particular painting captures a scene much closer to home: Worthing Pier on a bright summer's day.
I have always loved the atmosphere around the pier, with families, day-trippers and locals gathering to enjoy the sea air. The drifting blimp overhead adds a touch of fantasy and adventure, transforming an everyday coastal scene into something slightly dreamlike and cinematic.
Painted in my signature palette of vibrant colour and bold contrasts, Blimp celebrates the joy of British seaside culture while evoking the sense of possibility that comes with travel. It is a painting about leisure, escapism and those moments when the ordinary feels extraordinary.
