'Vanity Fair' is painted using oil and acrylic on canvas. It is a large painting on an artists high quality Windsor and Newton stretcher which is warp resistant. The painting is made using large brushstrokes and the texture of the paint and brushmarks are visible on the surface of the canvas. In parts of the painting you can see the underpainting.

The work is inspired by the old pleasure gardens that usd to exist for Londons hedonists. The painting is based on several different locations. The painting is designed first using a collage where I map out my composition and characters. I then start working on the canvas and build the paint up using layer upon layer in order to keep the paint as fresh as possible.

This painting depicts couples dancing inclearing of trees at night. In the trees are small glistening lights. In the back ground a horse stands looking out, and to the left a performer breathes fire. Over on the right hand side the specatcle of a hot air balloon is clearly visible.
