‘The Annenberg' is painted using oil and acrylic on canvas. It is a medium sized painting on an artist’s high quality canvas stretcher which is warp resistant.
Following a trip to LA last September (a lifelong dream!!) to exhibit works at the Other Art Fair, I explored places and pools which are the inspiration in lot of my paintings. I had wanted to travel to Hearst Castle to collect images to work from as I am really inspired by the Neptune Pool and a local resident told me the story of The Annenberg Community Beach House, which is designed and built by the same architect. I spent a wonderful day by the pool snoozing away my jet lag and gathering images and taking a tour or the wonderful home next to the pool.
What I loved most was watching the sun move around the pool and heats the spectacular unmissable marble stone that surrounds the pool. The pool is a real community hub for all, a thriving space that unites everyone in the pure pleasure of water.
THE PAINTING IS MADE USING LARGE BRUSHSTROKES AND THE TEXTURE OF THE PAINT AND BRUSH MARKS ARE VISIBLE ON THE SURFACE OF THE CANVAS. IT IS PAINTED USING A COMBINATION OF OIL AND ACRYLIC PAINT WHICH GIVES IT EXTREME VIBRANCY AND SHINE IN SOME AREAS.
