‘LUDWIG’ is painted using oil and acrylic on canvas. It is a large painting on an artist’s high quality Windsor and Newton stretcher which is warp resistant.
The painting is made using large brushstrokes and the texture of the paint and brush marks are visible on the surface of the canvas.
LUDWIG was the name of an Instagram filter which took its name after the German architect Ludvig Mies van der Rohe. With his minimalist designs, he made the phrase ‘less is more’ popular.
The sculpture featured in the painting is one that is positioned in one of his builds. I wanted to create some paintings where I explored using popular filters, so I stripped back details from this painting and worked with a low sky line.
